The Yellowstone Jewel has been a part of our ranch and farming operation for many years. The Jewel is still a working ranch with cattle and irrigated farmland. The patriarch of our family is Butch Krutzfeldt who was raised as a young child at Powderville, Montana, on the historic LO ranch. His father homesteaded in the area after his family arrived in this country from Europe. Julie is a descendent of the Warren pioneer family from Helena, Montana. Butch and Julie had their own professions but continued to raise their children in the ranching tradition with the family working the land until they moved into their own careers.
Butch and Julie have five grown children stretching from Miles City and Billings in Montana to the Oregon coast and the tip of Miami Beach, Florida. The family grew with the addition of eleven grandchildren. They have celebrated over 50 years of marriage and feel blessed to call Montana and Miles City home.
